How you can get involved: Community Justice opportunities

Can you welcome a young person into your workplace for a work taster or work experience placement?

Community Youth Justice (CYJ) work with young people aged 10-18 years old who are in conflict with the law. CYJ works from a rehabilitative and restorative justice approach to address the needs of our young people, and aim to reduce their risk of reoffending. This means a focus on what each young person needs to help them stay out of trouble.

Every young Tasmanian that CYJ works with has experienced significant hardship throughout their young life and face many barriers to change. We know that the right opportunity, with the right person, at the right time can make a difference in a young person’s life that stays with them forever. For some young people, getting involved in the community through work experience and employment is the catalyst that can help turn things around.

That’s where we hope you can help…

CYJ are seeking opportunities for our young people to get involved in:

  • One-off workplace taster sessions

  • Blocks of work experience (short weekly sessions, 1-3 hours, across a time-limited or ongoing period)

Sessions can be supported by a Youth Justice staff member onsite, where the business and young person would like the extra support.

If you’re able to support either a work taster session or work experience placement, and help change the life of a young Tasmanian, please get in contact with us and we will connect you with a representative of CYJ.
